The Shonai Bank is a regional bank responsible for retail, SME, agriculture, tourism, inheritance / wealth support, and public finance in Yamagata Prefecture (centered on the Shonai region but also inland), and is the designated financial institution for Tsuruoka City, Sakata City, and others. Within the prefecture it competes with the first regional bank Yamagata Bank, while in the Yamagata–Akita wide-area model of Fidea HD it is organized in combination with Hokuto Bank on the Akita side. Both the FSA bank-license list and the official company profile identify the legal entity, but the head-office-location notation differs by point in time (relocated from Tsuruoka City → Yamagata City in 2025-05 ).
